Serengeti National Park

What to know before visiting Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s most legendary wildlife destination and one of the greatest natural wonders on Earth. Spanning endless golden plains, rocky outcrops, riverine forests, and vast savannahs, the Serengeti is best known for hosting the world-famous Great Migration—the dramatic year-round journey of over 1.5 million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and gazelles as they move in search of fresh grazing.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Serengeti offers some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife viewing. The park is home to the Big Five, towering giraffes, massive elephant herds, prowling hyenas, and some of the continent’s highest densities of lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

Visitors can experience the Serengeti through game drives, hot air balloon safaris, walking safaris, or cultural visits with the Maasai communities living around the reserve. Dramatic sunsets, wide-open horizons, and abundant wildlife make it a place that feels both timeless and truly wild.
